Brysons First Tub Bath

Brysons first tub bath was a total turn around from is sponge bath. We were so excited that his umbilical cord fell out and we were finally able to put him in the tub. He absolutely loved it. He jus layed there and looked around the whole time. Bath time will be a lot more pleasant now.

Bryson is 1 week old!!!

We have been blessed to add another beautiful child to our family. He is such a good baby, and so much fun. He has learned how to smile already and is such a sweet boy. He has his daddy and his sisters wrapped around his little finger.

Brysons First Bath

The evening we got home with Bryson, the girls were so excited to help with his bath. We could only give him a sponge bath because of his umbilical cord, and he hated it. It is just so hard to keep them warm. Karlie helped with the lotion, and Crystal helped get him dressed.

Finally Home!!!

After we got to Payson we went to the school to pick up Crystal. When she got into the van, she was so excited to see Bryson. Then we headed home. It was so wonderful to be home. Both Karlie and Crystal were so excited to have time to hold him. They love their little brother.

Getting ready to leave the hospital

On Tuesday August 21st, we finally got to leave the hospital. Crystal started school that day and she was so sad to go to school instead of the hospital. Karlie came up with Charles to wait until they could release Bryson and I. We had to wait to go home until Dr. Behrmann could come and do the circumcision. But, until that time, Karlie felt that it was her job to hold him. She held him for over an hour and loved it. They are going to be best friends. Finally at 2:00pm They were ready to let us go home and start a new chapter of our lives.

Such Proud Sisters

Crystal and Karlie stayed at Aunt Shannons whileMom and Dad were at the hospital. We called them Sunday evening at 5:00 PM to tell them there brother had come. They sounded so excited!! Karlie had been asking me every doctors appointment if we were going to get the baby out. When I talked to her she said, "He finally came out!! The doctor finally took him out!!" It was so cute. They finally came to see him on August 20th in the evening. They were so excited to hold him. The looks on their faces were priceless.

Bryson David Allen

Bryson David Allen

On Sunday, August 19th, 2012 I was scheduled for an induction. We arrived at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center at 6:10 AM ready to see Bryson. We were taken to room 514 by Mindy. They had the room decorated with a bunch of signs of encouragement. Charles and I got settled in and our nurses Heidi and Stephanie came in to get everything started. The IV was started at 7:00 AM and I was started on Penicillin G because I was Group B positive. They had to give me four hours of antibiotics before they could start the Pitocin. At 11:00 AM the Pitocin was started at a slow amount. I had started dilation at 3 cm,80% effaced, and at a -1 station. At 11:30 Shannon and Kaitlin Hickman arrived. By 12:00 PM I had started regularly contracting. Kaitlin sat beside me the whole time and held my hand. She was a great support person. At 12:45 PM Dr Warner came and broke my water which was meconium. I was then dilated to 4 cm and completely effaced. I then decided to get the epidural and Dr. Phil Groesbeck immediately came in, and I received my epidural at 1:00 PM. The only problem is by this time my body was quickly changing. By 1:30 I was complete and ready to start pushing. They had me start pushing at 1:35 PM and Bryson David Allen was born at 1:50 PM. He weighed 6 pounds and 11 ounces and was 20.5 inches. He had a hard time getting going, so they gave him oxygen. He was still having problems with his oxygen and was a little blue, so they took him to the NBICU. I was only able to hold him for a minute before they took him. While there they started an IV and gave him a bolus of fluid and continued to watch and evaluate him. By 3:00 PM I was done with my recovery and they took me over to the NBICU to see him. When I got there to see him, they were just waiting for the doctor to come and write the order for him to be moved to the regular Newborn nursery. I was very relieved to hear that. They then took me downstairs and he was down in the nursery by 4:00 PM. They then got him cleaned up and he was finally able to come in with me which was long awaited for. I was so excited to finally hold him and have some time with him.
